About Us

We built the Salty Dog because we wanted a store filled with great stuff for dogs, cats, and people all in one place.  We have loads of practical products, from dog shampoo to leashes to bully sticks to balls, but plenty of things you won’t find in most pet shops, including unique gifts for people! Need a new dog collar? Our customers say we've got the best selection they've ever seen. Looking for the perfect treat? We've got something for everyone (including humans). Want to test-drive a harness? We do that.

The four dogs at our house, plus beloved foster dogs and dog-friends who are part of our extended family have given us some good opportunities to learn more about dog behavior and health. We’re happy to share what we’ve learned and help you find the resources and products you need.

We’re big believers in canine enrichment and will take time to help you find the best toy for your dog (we even have some loaners that you can test drive). We endorse positive reinforcement training and don’t sell prong or shock collars, or other aversive training devices, but we can stock you up with training treats, clickers, and treat bags.
